With 95% of our oceans still unexplored, the sea holds a treasure trove of untapped resources - from fish waste and seaweed to unusual bacteria and previously unknown chemicals.
This talk explores what is special about our marine environments and how we can harness marine resources to benefit our daily lives. We will hear about innovative research that is transforming so-called 'marine waste' into high-value products for medicine, agriculture and cosmetics - without harming precious ecosystems.
We'll go behind the scenes at Deakin University's BioFactory to see how seafood scraps become omega-3 oils, marine collagen outperforms…
