Learn how to turn food scraps and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost in this practical, hands-on workshop.
Led by Maria from My Green Garden, the session will explore a range of composting systems, including compost bins, worm farms and bokashi buckets, helping you find the right option for your home and lifestyle.
You will also discover tips for creating healthy compost, reducing waste and troubleshooting common composting challenges.
Who should attend
This workshop is ideal for adults interested in composting, reducing household waste and improving their garden soil.
Young people aged 16 and over are welcome to attend but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
What to expect
Gain practical knowledge about different composting methods and how to get started at home, regardless of the size of your space. This year's session includes a hands-on demonstration of how to set up a worm farm.
The workshop will conclude with a guided tour of Farm Raiser, the neighbouring not-for-profit urban farm in Bellfield. Since 2020, Farm Raiser has grown fresh produce for the local community while providing education and vocational pathways for students with disabilities. Farm Raiser will also host a bake sale on the day for those wishing to purchase a treat.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Waste Education Team.
