A chance to connect.

Our community lunches bring people together over food prepared by our Cooking, Creation and Conversation homeschooling teens.

The teens help choose the menu, cook the meal and welcome our guests.

It's a chance to practise their skills, share their ideas and contribute to their community.

For everyone around the table, it's time to meet someone new, have heaps of chats and enjoy a meal together.

At Heroes of Today, we're working to reduce loneliness and isolation and support mental wellbeing through real connection. These lunches are another way to bring that purpose to life.

What to expect

There's something lovely about sitting around a table, sharing food and having someone ask how your day has been.

That's what we want these lunches to be.

• A meal our teens can be proud of. They'll help choose the menu, cook the food and welcome you. Your being there gives them a chance to share what they've made.
• A warm hello when you walk in. Coming somewhere new can feel a bit awkward. We'll greet you and help you find a seat.
• People to share a meal with. Come on your own or bring someone along. There's room for a chat, a laugh and getting to know someone new.
• Different generations around one table. Teens, families, seniors and local community members, with different stories and plenty to learn from each other.
• Time to enjoy being together. You don't have to be outgoing or have something clever to say. Come as you are.
