This exhibition explores ways of creatively working with inherited objects to navigate the grieving process. Presented within Rusten House a place shared by care and personal meaning it presents thirteen interlinking mixed media assemblages, where each inherited object reflects a story of love, loss and remembrance.
Collectively, the creative works in the exhibition form a material autobiography that traces experiences of grief across her lifetime. Rather than representing bereavement as a finite event, the assemblages visualise grief as an ongoing relational process that continues to shape memory, identity, values and understanding. The exhibition explores the enduring bonds that connect us to those who are no longer physically present but remain deeply woven into our lives.
Karen will discuss the research project, her creative process and the stories behind the assemblages she has created
